If it is not branded it is not RYCO

When BMG Hydraulics became part of the BMG family, it brought over half a century’s worth of expertise to the BMG Group. With its acquisition by BMG, the focus of the company’s operations moved from value added services to a fully fledged trading organisation, and it embarked on a programme to provide clients with a full suite of solutions.

The best in the business

The first goal was to become the best service provider in the engineering business. New machinery was sourced and the cylinder facility upgraded. New management was introduced and fresh engineering talent added to the projects department, while the machine shop was upgraded.

Next, BMG Hydraulics looked at its trading commodities to see if they met customer requirements. Three products were added. The first was Enerpac, one of the world leaders in high pressure systems. Pneumatics was another priority, and the high quality Metal Work range of pneumatic products was chosen.

BMG Hydraulics then focused on its hose and fittings business. The company has been active in the mining industry for decades. Heavy duty mining requires heavy duty products which are built to last, and to meet this need BMG chose the world renowned brand RYCO as a partner. “We are very impressed with RYCO,” says Greg Lester, MD of BMG Hydraulics. “Our companies have very similar business ethics and we share the same approach towards quality and the way we interact with the market.”

If is is not branded it is not RYCO

RYCO Hydraulics hoses and fittings are designed and manufactured to exceed industry standards. Hose tolerance bands for hose bore, reinforcement diameter, braid wall, cover thickness and concentricity of RYCO hoses are typically twice as stringent as those specified by SAE and EN/DIN standards.

It is highly unadvisable to mix and match hose and couplings from different manufacturers and RYCO couplings are specifically designed to match the advanced RYCO hose. The fitting range includes the technically superior one-piece and two-piece Bitelok couplings, as well as straight and forged adapters.

Bitelok couplings

RYCO’s Bitelok range of one-piece non-skive crimp couplings incorporate monoblock bends, micro grooves and reverse barb technology.

The mono block bends are made from a single piece of steel and are far stronger than fabricated welded style constructions. The one piece construction means that there is no chance of a leak path developing from a faulty weld.

Micro gooves improve oil retention. Acting in a similar way to a series of o-rings, they resist the pressurised seepage of system oil over the life of the hose assembly. Together with reverse barb technology they provide superior sealing properties.

The need for skiving has been eliminated on Bitelok couplings. This is a great advantage when making hose assemblies. Non-skive hose assemblies save time and money and further reduce risk by eliminating an additional process.

The reverse barb technology reduces stress on the hose liner and prevents oil entrapment within the coupling, resulting in excellent sealing without the risk of the localised tearing of the liner that can occur with more aggressive sharp edged barb forms.

All parts are clearly marked with RYCO part numbers and batch codes, providing simple identification, complete traceability and enhanced safety by reducing the risk of error.

Value added services

Other value added services offered by BMG Hydraulics are project engineering and consulting; hydraulic cylinder design, manufacture, repair and testing; onsite oil purification with total fluid management; hose management contracts; inhouse hose assembly and manufacture; onsite hose assembly retrofits; hose monitoring; and hydraulic training and certification.

“BMG is a progressive and aggressive company. Our mission statement reflects our commitment to quality components, technical expertise and superior service. We are part of a process that allows our customers to be efficient and to excel in their business,” concludes Lester.
