Extensive range of pneumatic components

Second Quarter 2004 Pneumatic systems & components

As a leading Italian manufacturer of pneumatic components, Camozzi has a range of over 22 000 valves, cylinders, fittings and accessories. In recent years the company has expanded rapidly, diversifying into complementary markets and continually increasing its range of products and services. The Camozzi product range is available in 70 countries through the world and Camozzi Dbn and Hydraulics & Pneumatics Jhb are proud to be part of the global partnership - and aim to achieve the ultimate goal of complete customer satisfaction.

The aim of the Camozzi Group is to merge design, engineering, programming and production into an 'integrated' system capable of on-going improvements in products and techniques. The company makes use of the same strategy for the three plants at Lumezzanc, Polpenazze and Paderno in northern Italy, and all three plants are fine examples of independent and fully automated production. The manufacturing process is vertically integrated and all major operations are carried out internally, including forging. Components are designed with the help of nine CAD stations, all interfaced with each other, whilst a CAM unit is used for the programming of machines. All management processes of every Camozzi Group company, from Europe to Africa, from America to Australia adhere to the same system protocols, and all Camozzi branches across the globe are connected directly to the Italian head office.

The company believes in using technological developments as a means of satisfying its customers' needs. For this reason, all stages of its production cycle are automated and strictly controlled and documented. Working processes are supported by a dedicated system of quality control that is linked to a central computer, and all components are routinely tested after assembly with certified quality procedures. The warehouses are also fully integrated with a sophisticated information technology system that makes stock replacement automatic.

Camozzi offers two cylinder options (both ISO VDMA 6431 compliant) with different aluminium tube (round and profiled) and the usual models with steel tube. The catalogue also includes rodless cylinders (with internal shuttle), compact and short-stroke cylinders, as well as a range of small cylinders in different types and versions.

The aluminium profile (with most cylinder models) allows the installation of recessed magnetic sensors on both sides. The entire range of cylinders is provided with a suitable selection of fastenings to allow their use in many different applications. The company is proud of its QC series of guided compact cylinders - its Camozzi Series 31 can be used in demanding environments where a rugged and durable design is necessary. These cylinder designs are smooth and clean, allowing this series to be used for food handling applications. Cylinders are constructed from two solid end caps with self-lubricated, sintered bronze bearings in front, giving extra strength and durability to the cylinder.

Something as 'simple' as a terminal unit in a pneumatic system should not be underestimated. The catalogue includes quickest-to-assemble models - featuring a patented system that created a tight connection between threads - and quick connection models. Both models can be used with plastic piping of different diameters.
