Festo Didactic addresses skills shortage

3rd Quarter 2009 News & events

Festo Didactic has introduced a Training Needs Analysis (TNA) programme to help address the ongoing South African skills shortage. The programme is designed to identify knowledge gaps in current and future operations, allowing companies to address training requirements, thus improving productivity, efficiency and profitability.

The needs of a company are ascertained through discussions with management, to establish training requirements from a business perspective. Once the core requirements of a company are identified, an inspection of production processes is carried out. Concurrently, evaluations of planned organisational changes and the addition of new technologies are conducted. This is done in order to gather information about the processes and technologies use, so that an efficient training programme can be developed to cater for both current and future requirements.

“The Festo TNA programme provides business with the tools to identify weaknesses within personnel training and address these needs as comprehensively as possible. The beauty of this programme is that it offers an all inclusive solution that covers individual workplaces, production processes and business strategy. This allows Festo to make holistic recommendations regarding training of personnel,” says Horst Weinert, training & consultant manager of Festo Didactic.
