Dowson & Dobson launches assembly technology division

3rd Quarter 2011 News & events

Dowson & Dobson Industrial is launching a dedicated new Assembly Technology division which is aimed at the higher end of the local assembly technologies market. The company is dedicating an entire new division to the Deprag brand which will initially host Deprag torque shut-off screwdrivers and feeding technology. Deprag entered into a distributorship agreement with Dowson & Dobson in 2009. Dowson & Dobson is initially marketing the screwdriving technology to local automotive sub-suppliers before targeting manufacturers in the long term.

The Deprag range meets the highest international specifications for performance and tolerance and is ideally suited to safety critical applications. For high spec applications torque and tolerance are always specified, and efficiency is measured as a process capability (CP) or process capability index (CPK) value. The CPK value required in the automotive sector is 1,67 or better, and the Deprag range is one of the few brands in South Africa capable of meeting these standards. Deprag boasts a preventive maintenance interval of 1 million cycles which in the automotive industry equates to approximately 12 months.
