Letaba donates industrial pumps

1st Quarter 2015 News & events

Letaba Industrial Pumps, a division of the Set Point Group, has recently donated 12 positive displacement and centrifugal industrial pumps worth R100 000 to Ithemba Institute of Technology’s FET College.

These pumps include Wilden air operated double diaphragm pumps, used to transfer chemicals and solvents as well as Typhoon magnetic drive pumps, and multistage pumps complete with motors for water transfer applications. The FET College focuses on providing industry relevant technical and engineering skills training to learners from Soweto and surrounding areas.

The Set Point Group supports various social development and skills development projects such the Set Point School of Science which provides extra science lessons to learners from six Edenvale high schools whereby lessons are provided for learners from grades 10, 11 and 12. The donated pumps will equip the school with various models that are used in numerous applications in industry and can be used during practical learning and evaluation for learners studying mechanical engineering, fitting and maintenance of plants.

“We look forward to having a longstanding relationship with the college and hope our partnership will add positively to the country’s economy,” says Deon Steenkamp, operations manager of Letaba Group.
