Hyflo Southern Africa is one of the largest hydraulic companies in this country, with over 60 years of experience in the development of pioneering hydraulic and pneumatic systems. The company’s business is focused on distribution, engineering, manufacture, installation and commissioning, as well as service and repairs.

Hyflo Southern Africa was recently commissioned by Wärtsilä France to design and manufacture the hydraulics for the controllable-pitch propulsion systems for an Asian shipbuilder. Each propellor system is operated by its own independent hydraulic system, which consists of a hydraulic power pack, starter and specialised equipment. Hyflo’s hydraulic power packs are designed and built in-house in accordance with approved authorities such as Lloyds Register and Bureau Veritas. Hyflo carries out finite element analysis as well as acoustic, vibration, electromagnetic compatibility and shock testing on required components. Factory acceptance tests are carried out to ensure systems comply with specifications.

Hyflo Southern Africa also services the offshore industry extensively throughout Africa, providing complete engineering solutions for various systems. Examples include refurbishment, upgrades, data integrity management and pressure testing. An example of one recent offshore project is the upgrade of a BOP transporter reel.
