Cost-effective 3D metal printer

2nd Quarter 2018 Other technologies

Additive manufacturing is a technology which is changing the way we look at the design of components – both for mass production and for intricate specialised parts. Weartech is in discussion with Aurora Labs, an Australian-based company that specialises in the prototyping and production of cost efficient 3D printers, regarding distribution in South Africa. These printers have an extensive range of printing capabilities when it comes to the materials that can be printed, as well as two printing modes:

Direct metal laser sintering (DMLS)

• Direct metal laser melting (DMLM)

Weartech technical director, Adam Wintle says that the cost-efficient S-Titanium Pro is a metal AM/3D printer offering the largest range of materials that can currently be 3D printed, namely stainless steel, Inconel 625, Inconel 718, NiBSi, titanium, bronze and maraging steel.

“Near net-shape printing meaning less post processing is required on the finished parts manufactured using these expensive materials. As well as offering the S-Titanium Pro, we will be offering metal powders for printing, spares, maintenance and training, making Weartech a one-stop 3D printing shop,” he concludes.
