3rd Quarter 2015 SAFPA News & events

This might be the shortest president’s letter ever published as the topic I am touching on has been well covered in this issue.

SAFPA has made significant strides in the development of a nationally recognised qualification for the fluid power industry. At the recent presentation by representatives from MerSETA and Sparrow FET College, the council received the all-important go-ahead from industry to embark on a strategic training initiative. With this in hand, SAFPA has now been able to look at the logistics involved and to develop a detailed structure for each course. This will lead to the implementation of training and conclude with a group of candidates successfully completing each course. We are aiming at running the pilot course in the early part of 2016. The SAFPA sub-committee handling the educational portfolio is well on its way to meeting the short term objectives laid out by industry; but to succeed in the long term, SAFPA will require the continued buy-in of the fluid power industry.
