The Siemens local manufacturing facility in North Riding, Johannesburg is an investment in the future of the country’s energy and infrastructure sectors and in the technical upskilling of the company’s workforce. The state-of-the-art facility not only manufactures high quality products to meet local demands but also incorporates local content by creating jobs and promoting skills development.
Medium voltage products (air and gas insulated switchgear) are manufactured and Siemens also offers turnkey solutions for primary and secondary distribution networks and rural electrification. Working from a unified facility, the company has consolidated engineering, manufacturing, sales and marketing under one roof, making it easier to handle customer’s requirements. The facility currently employs around 280 people and has an impressive production capability with around 6900 square metres of manufacturing space.
The building itself is run with low consumption HVAC technology as well as solar water heating and energy efficient lighting.
