Superior synchronous drive system

3rd Quarter 2012 Electrical switching & drive systems & components

Veyance Technologies Africa has introduced the Eagle NRG synchronous drive system which has up to 25% more power capacity and static conductivity. Veyance is the exclusive manufacturer of Goodyear Engineered Products in southern Africa.

“The Eagle NRG synchronous drive system has been specifically engineered to achieve the most energy efficient, precise and quiet synchronisation, while providing maximum service life and flexibility,” says Paul van Zyl, marketing manager, Goodyear Engineered Products.

Operating up to 19 db softer than conventional straight-tooth belts, the patented helical offset tooth design of the Eagle NRG provides a continuous rolling tooth engagement that reduces vibration by up to 19% and improves the overall efficiency of the entire drive system. “The result is one of the smoothest and most compact systems available on the market,” says Van Zyl.

By employing circular arc geometry, the belts and sprockets are able to provide better ratcheting resistance, precise movement, increased horsepower rating and improved stress distribution. The belt can provide continuous service up to 93°C.

The Eagle NRG also allows the design engineer to reduce overall face width and weight without compromising on belt strength and durability. The self-tracking design eliminates the use of flanges, and resistance to flex fatigue, elongation and shock leads under high torque conditions is optimised.

This synchronous drive system achieves a 98% efficiency rating that translates into immediate energy savings, especially when applied to high-energy consuming drives. There are over 1500 sprocket combinations that have been colour coded to make it easier to match the correct belt with the correct sprocket.
