Schneider has announced its innovative TeSys T intelligent and flexible motor management system. Designed to protect and monitor installations demanding high levels of production equipment availability, the TeSys T dramatically increases process performance and reduces operational costs. Its advanced functionality includes current/voltage monitoring and protection, power measurement, fault management, pre-defined control modes, the recording of operation history and statistics and local logic and programmable I/O.
According to Moratehi Ndlebe, PWCTR product manager at Schneider Electric South Africa, the TeSys T system results in a more efficient business as the controller is equipped with a communication interface that remotely supervises and controls the motor. The communication platform is completely open, incorporating all communication buses available on the market: Ethernet, ModBus, CANopen, DeviceNet and Profibus. This ensures that information required to optimise and monitor processes is accessible at all times, both locally and remotely. This includes parameter setting and activation of protection devices; configuration and management of motor controls; motor status monitoring such as alarms and tripping; and data exchange such as diagnostic, histories and counters. Extremely easy to implement, the TeSys T’s sense of protection, openness, and performance effectively equips motor starters with a genuine sixth sense.
Quality information about the machine’s status can be fed in real-time, and control commands can be accepted via an automation network. An operator display can also be connected to the TeSys T, providing local control, monitoring and parameter configuration.
“Utilising TeSys T in a motor control centre makes it possible to conduct preventative maintenance, reduce machine downtime and maximise machine efficiency, ultimately resulting in reduction of operational expenditure,” says Ndlebe.
