3rd Quarter 2012Electrical switching & drive systems & components
With its new electric toothed belt axis, Festo has an ideal solution for applications where loads are guided externally. The ELGA-TB-G electric drive is also suitable for applications where a simple plain-bearing guide with a rigid profile will do the trick, such as where work-pieces only require a push/pull force. In these instances, using an axis with plain-bearing guide is more cost-effective than an electric axis with a recirculating ball bearing guide.
The positioning drive sizing software helps to select the right axis reliably, while the Festo Configuration Tool (FCT) ensures convenient and easy commissioning of the motor controller. The toothed belt axis ELGA-TB-G with plain-bearing guide comes in three sizes and offers a maximum working stroke of 8500 mm.
The ELGA-TB-G thus enables design engineers to dispense with time consuming in-house solution design and allows them to concentrate fully on their core activities. The process from system design to implementation is much quicker, leading to earlier production start-up and greater cost savings.
Featuring a flexible motor attachment, the motor can be mounted on the left or right and front or back of the axis, and this position can be changed at any time. The axis is compatible with all common servo motors, making it a very versatile option. It delivers exceptional feed forces of up to 1300 N, acceleration of up to 50 m/s² and can achieve travel speeds of 5 m/s.
