Siemens has updated its Simotion Motion Control system to version 4.4. This offers many new functions that make the engineering of motion control projects even easier and more efficient. Simotion applications for the entire drive train can now be efficiently and conveniently engineered, configured and commissioned through the Engineering Framework.
Siemens achieved this by updating the Simotion high-end motion control system and integrating it into the TIA Portal. Here a wide range of motion control functionalities can be used intuitively and quickly through the innovative user interface. Users benefit from fully graphic configuration of hardware and networks, with the Simotion visually imaged, together with all its interfaces and properties. In the network view further automation components such as the HMI or the drives can be connected to Simotion.
Complex motion control applications can be created quickly by using standardised software modules that Siemens has stored in the easyProject project generator. This is also integrated into the Simotion Scout Engineering System, from which it can be called directly. The standardised, intuitive user guidance enables modules to be integrated quickly and easily into existing projects or to be put together for new projects. This means that a large part of the application only has to be configured, and no longer requires time-consuming programming. This not only markedly speeds up the engineering, but also greatly reduces the potential for making errors.
