Compact, robust linear actuator

1st Quarter 2016 Electrical switching & drive systems & components

Machines that operate in harsh environmental conditions require robust process automation actuators. Water, dust, dirt particles and aggressive media represent considerable challenges for linear actuators in process automation and lead to performance impairment over the long term.

High performance

Festo’s DFPI-NB3 linear actuator is ideal for use by chemical and mining industries, energy producers, machine and plant builders, water treatment plants and companies handling bulk goods. Designed in accordance with ISO 15552 and equipped with an integrated displacement encoder and optimised piston rod guide, this innovative linear actuator delivers high performance over long periods.

A variety of applications

Its robustness and versatility make this actuator an excellent choice for a wide range of applications. These include swivel motions to control ventilation, flue gas and furnace pressure control valves, hot gas valves, drum slide valves and regulation of flow rates and filling levels. It is also suitable for adjusting the pitch of turbine and rotor blades. In addition, the DFPI-NB3 can be used to optimise the motion of shut-off and dosing valves, sluice gates and pinch and dart valves.

Compact and robust

Most actuators used in process automation are exposed to increased maintenance costs and reduced component service life. In addition, the moving components are prone to increased wear due to corrosion and dirt particles. The DFPI-NB3’s integrated displacement encoder avoids the common drawbacks of actuators that require external attachments. Its compact size also means it requires little installation space.
