WEG switchgear has been added to the product offering available from Zest Electric Motors and Drives, providing customers with a single source supplier for motors, AC drives, soft starters and low voltage switchgear. Although WEG only began exporting from Brazil in 2002, the company has been manufacturing switchgear since 1984. WEG switchgear is manufactured to IEC 947-1, and carries both UL and CE certification.
Errol Smith, sales executive responsible for switchgear at Zest Electric Motors and Drives says that the WEG switchgear was introduced to the South African market at Electra Mining Africa 2004 and elicited an enthusiastic response. Both WEG and Zest are leading suppliers of electrical equipment with established infrastructures and a commitment to on-time deliveries.

Zest Electric Motors and Drives maintains a large stockholding of WEG motors and drives, and this philosophy has been extended to the switchgear business. An extensive range of switchgear will be held at the company's premises. This move stands to increase the company's market share and provide new customers an alternative source for their switchgear components.
"Entry into the switchgear supply end of the market is a logical extension of the business for Zest and means that the company is able to provide all motor control requirements from a single source with the highest levels of technical back-up."
The WEG switchgear product range includes contactors, motor protection relays, motor circuit protection breakers, push buttons and indicating lights, field isolator stations, motor starters in either polycarbonate or sheet metal enclosures and other associated products.
