Single-phase power fault finding tool

Second Quarter 2005 Other technologies

New from Comtest, the Fluke 43B is useful for diagnosing and troubleshooting power quality and general equipment failures. This tool combines the capabilities of a power quality analyser, a 20 MHz oscilloscope, a multimeter and a data recorder in a single instrument.

Wherever electrical and electronic equipment is indispensable - power quality plays a critical role in maintaining continuity. Non-linear loads, switching, load changes and equipment problems can result in poor power quality. Poor power quality is not only costly in terms of wasted energy and unnecessary downtime; it is also dangerous and increases risk of equipment failure.

Circuit breakers that trip, transformers that overheat, motors that burn out, machines that do not function properly; problems such as these can be quickly and easily identified with this instrument.

As a power quality analyser it is optimised for industrial measurements on the 50 Hz fundamental frequency. Its frequency range extends from 10 to 400 Hz, making it suitable for aviation, marine and railway applications.

Comtest is the sole authorised distributor of Fluke industrial and electrical test tools in southern Africa. Fluke is a world leader in the manufacture, distribution and service of electrical and industrial test tool solutions.
