Revolutionary local compressor technology

Second Quarter 2005 Shaft power components

A new range of Rotary Vane - inverter/variable speed drive compressors known as 'OPTIMA' was launched at Hannover Messe in April 2005. The OPTIMA is unique as it claimed to offer better efficiency than any other type of rotary compressor available on the international market. By virtue of the laws of physics and the design parameters of the compressor element, the rotary vane technology as opposed to rotary screw technology allows better energy consumption. This is especially true at lower speeds: when air usage drops down to levels of 40% output, the energy saving is at its highest, at this stage the compressor is only running at about 900 rpm.

The units available will range from 11 to 90 kW with outputs from 1,15 to 16 m³/minute and will be locally assembled incorporating high local content and making them a Proudly South African design, suitable for the rugged environmental conditions prevalent in the Southern Hemisphere.
