The largest WEG transformer supplied to date by Zest Electric Motors and Drives will be commissioned at the Hercules substation in the CBD of Richards Bay.
The City of uMhlathuze encompasses Empangeni, Esishawini, Ngwelezane, Nseleni, Richards Bay and Vulindlela. The growth within the CBD of Richards Bay requires an additional 30 MVA WEG 132-11 kV step down transformer, which was shipped from the WEG manufacturing facility in Brazil.
Representatives from the City of uMhlathuze together with Zest personnel visited the WEG facility to witness the final tests on the transformer, in this ISO 9001:2000 accredited plant. WEG's transformer manufacturing facility employs highly skilled and experienced design engineers, who focus on producing high quality. The company has been producing transformers since 1981 and has an established reputation for the manufacture of distribution transformers, power transformers and furnace transformers. The picture shows a transformer in final assembly at WEG.
