Didactic courses available in September 2005

Third Quarter 2005 News & events

Festo Didactic is running the following MERSETA accredited courses that combine theory with practice:

Basic pneumatics

The objectives of low cost automation, pneumatic symbols and other general pneumatic principles and will run from 31 August-2 September in Johannesburg.

Pneumatic maintenance

A revision of basic pneumatics, followed by more advanced subjects, such as air preparation and layout, and will run from 28-30 September in Cape Town.

Electro pneumatics

Electrical principles and symbols, control methods and faultfinding procedures and will run from 7-9 September in Johannesburg and 21-23 September in Durban.

Programmable logic controllers

PLC control principles, familiarisation, programming and related material and will run from 14-16 September in Johannesburg and 31 August-2 September in Cape Town.

Basic hydraulics

Basic hydraulic principles, symbology and general concepts and will run from 7-9 September in Durban.

Advanced hydraulics

The development of circuit diagrams, analysis of hydraulic systems and synchronous operation of cylinders and will run from 21-23 September in Johannesburg.

Proportional hydraulics

The symbology, specifications and technology behind proportional hydraulics and will run from 28-30 September in Johannesburg.

Mechatronics 1

The function and application of actuators, application and selection of sensors, role of controllers and control software, system integration and documentation as well as case studies and networking and will run from 13-16 September in Johannesburg.

Execution of the massive Azmet Reactor project DRC

The Azmet Reactor project, a collaborative effort led by Viva Engineering, involved fabricating six massive reactors that were over three stories high in Gauteng, and then transporting these more than 2500 kilometres to a mine in the DRC - where all 3265 parts fitted perfectly, with not even one of the 26 900 bolts out of place. This was a massive achievement.
