Award-winning drive
Third Quarter 2005
Electrical switching & drive systems & components
At an award ceremony in Opernhaus, Hanover, Germany, in September last year (2004), Danfoss Drives was presented the iF design award for 2004. The award was for the local control panel of the VLTAutomationDrive FC 300 series.
The international iF design award was established in 1954 and is regarded as one of the most important design competitions worldwide, attracting applications from more than 30 different countries every year. "This is important recognition", says Henning Mads Michelsen, project manager for the AutomationDrive. "User friendliness was one of the key aims in our strategy and we have put a lot of resources into this issue - and now I am happy that a renowned institution like iF has recognised this."
The iF logo will draw more attention to the product and it will be classed among the world's most innovative products. "We are now recognised as innovative in the field where we want it the most," Michelsen says.
The control panel was chosen out of a total of 1003 applications from 34 countries in the category 'interface communication'. The 12 judges in the International Forum Design jury judged the control panel using the following criteria:
* Usability: Communication, efficiency of function, easy to learn, information structure, interaction, and navigation structure.
* Look and feel: Aesthetics and screen design.
* Uniqueness: Animation quality, design quality, and innovation.
