EXCITE backed by those who count in Western Cape industry

Third Quarter 2004 News & events

Despite being in its first year, the new Exhibition for Cape Industrial Technologies (EXCITE) already has the backing and support of the regional and national associations that really matter as it attempts to bring all the technologies, equipment, systems, services and solutions critical to competitive advantage and business development direct to the doorstep of Western Cape industrialists.

Taking place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre between 29 September and 1 October 2004, EXCITE has received the support of the big names in business who have signed up to exhibit on the show - including ABB Holdings, Festo, FEW, Hyflo, Ingersoll Rand, LG, Sanlam, Shell and more - as well as the endorsement of the Cape Information Technology Initiative (CITI), the Cape Regional Chamber, the Engineering Association (SAVI), and the Information Technology Association.

As a celebration of Western Cape industry and technology, EXCITE will be opening its doors for the first time in the 200th anniversary year of the Cape Business Chamber - the largest and oldest Chamber of Commerce in South Africa. With over 4500 members, the Chamber sets out to lead business empowerment in the province and serves the interests of business by satisfying certain needs through representing member views and providing services of value. The Chamber, which promotes business growth and the development of business opportunities, believes that EXCITE will allow exhibitors and visitors to enjoy the best in industrial products.

The Cape Information Technology Initiative (CITI) is an independent, not-for-profit development agency focused on developing the ICT cluster and associated businesses in the Western Cape. CITI's goal is to promote Cape Town as a global IT hub and gateway into Africa, thereby facilitating the creation of jobs and prosperity through IT. The association sits at the junction of business, education and government and unleashes the power of entrepreneurship, community and capital by bringing people and businesses together. CITI believes that EXCITE will encourage the same end.

SAVI is the Engineering Association of South Africa and aims to advance the status and image of engineering in SA; further cooperation, communication and unity amongst all sectors of the profession; improve engineering education and training and promote engineering careers; liase with other national, regional and local authorities as well as the public; advise and act on matters of policy and legislation that affect engineering as a whole at a national level. Constantly involved in activities that meet these objectives, the Association regards EXCITE as one such event.

The Information Technology Association (ITA) is the official trade and employer body of the IT industry in South Africa, whose members actively participate in events that affect business and initiate issues that need to be addressed at national and international government, parastatal and business level.

The organisers believe that so much strong and influential support from both big business an industry-related associations, makes the success of EXCITE almost inevitable.
