A combination of new and original technology has been incorporated in a new series of low noise gear pumps covered by international patents. Until now the noise problem was tackled at the design stage by means of paired phased gears or helical gears. However, size and performance (pressure and efficiency) were more or less handicapped. The Whisper pump solves the noise problem without affecting size and performance. These unique characteristics are available in four frame sizes. Multiple pumps and motors are also available.

The Whisper pump incorporates the 'zero backlash' principle, ie, double contact between the meshing teeth. The trapped oil is divided and made smaller, which increases the frequency and intrinsically reduces the amplitude of the flow and pressure ripple. This pressure ripple is the primary source of noise. These low noise gear pumps are available from Ernest Lowe.
