Compact swing drives
Fourth Quarter 2004
Other technologies
Linde Material Handling, represented in South Africa by sole local agents Ernest Lowe, has developed new, compact swing drives that widen its product range for open loop applications.
The intelligent integration of hydro motor, multidisc brake, single stage planetary gearbox and pinion within a compact housing has resulted in a robust, maintenance-free, low profile design. All integrated components require the same oil volume.
Hydro motors have large displacements and are slow running, resulting in the development of full torque at slow speeds. This keeps noise levels low and facilitates smooth, sensitive starting. Overall efficiency and precision are also greatly increased.
GS Swing Drives are available in sizes 1200, 1600, 2000, 2500, 3000 and 3500 (size equates to theoretical displacement in ml/rev of pinion). Optional DCV-blocks, anti-reaction functions and speed sensors are available for all sizes. The DCV-block incorporates a hydraulically piloted control valve and is mounted directly on to the hydro motor (actuator). This ensures high responsiveness and sensitive, load independent control of the swing drive. Priority and TC functions are an integral and effective part of total control.
Integration of the numerous hydraulic and mechanical functions has resulted in a highly compact, energy-efficient GS series suited to a large variety of applications such as excavators, loading machines, mobile cranes and forestry machines.
