SKF, one of the world's largest and most experienced manufacturers of quality bearings, associated products, sealing systems and supplier of power transmission products and couplings, celebrated the re-opening of its Springs branch on 15 November 2004.
"2002 Saw SKF Springs, established in 1993, relocated to head office in Witfield, with the aim of servicing customers from a central location," explains Springs branch manager, Jacqui Trevethan. "We have decided to relocate the branch back to Springs in order to further improve customer service by getting closer to our customers and therefore will be able to fulfil their requirements and expectations more efficiently and extend our strategic branch network in South Africa and Africa."
SKF Springs is located in New Era, with a staff complement of eight, including a storeman, driver and internal and external sales. With the recent opening of SKF Jacobs to service existing and new industries in the immediate and surrounding areas of Durban, SKF now has a total of 13 branches situated throughout South Africa. SKF Empangeni relocated to Richards Bay in July 2004, a move which positions SKF closer to customers located in this industrial hub, which offers significant growth potential. SKF branches in the rest of Africa include Kenya, Nigeria, Zambia and Zimbabwe (Bulawayo and Harare).
