Machine manufacturers often need to control positions of hydraulic cylinders, rolls, calendars, actuators etc, in order to have a process control on their machines. DS Europe is offering its PC Series of magnetostrictive position transducers.
These instruments measure absolute position without contact and wear between cursor and transducer probe and can withstand a good deal of shock, vibration and grime (IP65). Series PC can measure up to two cursor positions and can also measure velocity. Main features include:
Measuring ranges: 0 to 100 mm up to 3 m full scale.
Outputs: 0 to 10 V, 4 to 20 mA, RS485, RS422, Start-Stop, SSI, CANopen.
Resolution: from 46 µm down to as fine as 5 µm.
DS Europe produces a PCS model for linear position (with cursor ring for hydraulic cylinders) and with floats for liquid level measures (wetted parts are welded stainless steel) and a PCR model with slide cursors (substituting encoders and potentiometers).
Applications would include the likes of: presses, plastic blowing machines, ceramic and marble machines, liquid batching machines, wood-working machines, paper machines, drilling machines, machine tools and where it is necessary to have high long-term reliability.
