Sophistication meets simplicity for small handling tasks

First Quarter 2005 Other technologies

Low cost handling tasks, often termed 'pick-and-place' applications, require small handling components that go together perfectly and can be combined simply, quickly and therefore economically. Tectra Automation believes the Easy-2-Combine concept from Rexroth provides the ideal solution for these tasks.

Through a clever combination of sophistication and simplicity, the modular approach to small handling tasks offers three main advantages - integrated economic efficiency, dependability by design and clear distinction between various handling applications.

Integrated economic efficiency is achieved through reduced engineering time and assembly costs, optimum compatibility, modular design and high flexibility in assembly. From a design perspective, dependability results from standardised interfaces, comprehensive connection kits as accessories, direct mounting via connection plates, and high-load, low-wear guides. The concept also allows interlocking and force-fit connection without extra work.

Easy-2-Combine distinguishes between three general application types, namely pneumatic pick-and-place applications, electric and pneumatic linear gantry applications and electric and pneumatic area gantry applications along the X, Y and Z-axis. All the components of this system are compatible with the Rexroth modular profile system, also available through Tectra Automation.

From applications with short cycle times, low workplace weights and rigid, stable axis to tasks with long strokes requiring control of multiple intermediate positions, the Easy-2-Combine component range was designed to provide the most cost-effective, easy-to-use solution. The picture shows directly combinable individual components for handling technology: The Rexroth Easy-2-Combine system available from Tectra Automation.
