Multidrives without encoder feedback

KEB's latest offering in the Combivert F5 series is the Version SCL (sensorless closed loop) option, which is available across the power range 0,75 to 630 kW. Working on the principle of real field orientation without encoder feedback, this drive package could save unnecessary investment in motor-mounted encoders, the additional cabling required to route encoder signals back to the drive and the cost of a drive encoder interface. Combivert F5 SCL can presently be used in conjunction with servomotors, spindle motors and torque motors. F5 ASCL has recently been added to this range for linear and asynchronous motor operation.
Drives, like any product containing rectifiers, can create harmonic distortion. With regulation and legislation now limiting the levels of mains borne harmonic pollution in many parts of the world, there is great responsibility on industrial electricity consumers in general and drive users in particular, to maintain these levels within strict guidelines. Mindful of these obligations, KEB has launched a range of harmonic filters that can be 'designed in' at the planning stage to replace traditional line reactors.
The Combiline harmonic filter range offers 18 different models satisfying power ratings from 5 to 250 kW and currents from 10 to 460 A. The units are supplied in IP20 open format for direct connection, and are capable of reducing total harmonic distortion to 8% or less. These filters have many other benefits, including the elimination of transients at load changes, an insignificant line voltage drop compared with a line reactor installation, and less wear and tear on the drive - particularly the DC link capacitors.
