Genflex rated BEE-compliant

First Quarter 2007 News & events

Genflex Hydraulics of Gauteng, one of South Africa's leading suppliers of hydraulic hose and fittings, was awarded a certificate of compliance in terms of the broad based black economic empowerment scorecard in November 2006.

David Michelle, director at Genflex said: "Genflex has been working towards obtaining the certificate of compliance for some time, and is extremely proud to have achieved this recognition. During this process, it became more apparent how Genflex can assist in the upliftment of our employees.

"Genflex invested R600 000 in machinery for a group of Genflex black entrepreneurs to start up their own small, independent company. Genflex now supports the development of this independent company with contracts to undertake work in support of the hose industry within which Genflex Hydraulics operates."

The company has been aware that the development of its staff to their fullest potential is crucial, not only for the company, but also for moral and motivational factors of its staff.

Genflex is awaiting the introduction of the MERSETA training courses, and once available will be identifying those within the Genflex operations to participate. The importance of staff training has been high on the company's agenda for some time.

Michelle concluded: "Our staff training efforts in the past have delivered most satisfactory results, and Genflex is optimistic that it can raise the level of its training initiatives in the future. We are confident in playing our part in the skills training and upliftment of all walks of life within our society."
