At only 62 mm wide, the ELR W3/9-500 MM unites an electronic reverse contactor combination with a motor protection trigger and three-phase active output monitoring for installations. The device is suitable for machines of up to approximately 4 kW. The EMM 3/5-500 MM device can be used for larger power outputs. Motor management devices protect installations and motors. This is accomplished by the fast active output measurement function, which can monitor a pump for dry-runs or blocked filters, for example. An error triggers an alarm or causes the drive to be switched off, thereby protecting the motor and the installation.
The ELR W3/9-500 MM and EMM 3/5-500 MM motor management devices can now be used for motors in the Ex area. Class AK4 according to DIN V19251, Category 3 according to EN954-1 and the EC type examination certificate according to ATEX have been confirmed by the PTB (national metrology institute) under PTB 03 ATEX 3114. A cycle test of the bimetal function is not required. The ability to integrate devices into Fieldbus systems such as Interbus and Profibus offers equipment availability at high safety levels, from the motor right through to the process control system.
