SKF South Africa is proud to announce the renewal of its Nissan Motorsport sponsorship for the 2007 racing season, cementing a successful nine-year partnership.
SKF pushes the limits of bearing technology within the unique environment of motor racing, by developing diverse durable quality products to suit application specifics. The bearing manufacturer provides weight and energy optimised products for circuit racing, and strength and durability optimised products for off-road racing. Glyn Hall, senior manager - Nissan Motorsport, explains: "Because the reliability and quality of SKF's range of products are unquestionable all our vehicles are fitted with their bearings and seals. We use the company's products such as wheel bearings, rod ends, needle bearings, O-rings and oil seals."
Nissan Motorsport has shown its racing mettle in the national off-road championship, raking in wins for six years in succession; five with the Nissan Hardbody (developed by Hall and his team) and the sixth, in 2006, with a Nissan Navara.
"Quality is the common denominator for success," states Hall. "Quality is reliability, reliability means minimum breakdowns and minimum breakdowns secure championships. Price is secondary and we spare no expense when it comes to factors such as running costs, equipment, software licences and engines."
Hall continues: "There is no question that SKF bearings play a major role in helping to win races. If the bearings were not up to it, and failed to perform, we would fail, particularly when it comes to the gearboxes in off-road racing where temperatures often rise to between 140-150°C."
