Having started in 1997 with the repair and servicing of drives and controls from the European giant in this field, Tectra Automation's repairs department has continued to grow, with employees attending regular training overseas to ensure that repairs are carried out to the highest international standards.

"The shorter time scale that we offer on repairs and the fact that we can carry out repairs on-site throughout southern Africa are major advantages," explains Georg Venter, divisional manager - Electric Drives and Controls at Tectra Automation. "We cover everything down to PC-board level. There are only very few specialised components that still need to be sent overseas. Our team has been to Botswana, Malawi and other African countries to work on Rexroth drives and controls, and have built a strong reputation on the quality of work carried out."

Venter says that the back-up support, technical advice and fast-track component delivery from the German OEM is excellent, even where parts have been discontinued.

"We have found several Bosch Rexroth motors that have been running untouched for over 15 years - these products are so well balanced and sealed that it is hard to tell they have been in use after all these years," says Venter. "We are in the process of expanding our team to accommodate the continued growth."
