Genflex signs up with Asian vehicle hose manufacturer

Third Quarter 2007 News & events

Genflex Hydraulics has placed orders with one of Asia's largest vehicle hose manufacturers and will be supplying brake hose and fittings to the South African automotive sector with immediate effect.

The Asian company, based in China, supplies automotive rubber hoses, assemblies and seals to the Asian operations of motor manufacturers such as Ford, Toyota, VW, Chrysler, Citroen, Mercedes Benz, Peugeot, Nissan and General Motors. The company manufactures approximately 1,5 million brake hose assemblies per month and two million hoses per month for power steering and airconditioner booster hoses for the Chinese vehicle and railway sectors.

Bruce Garner, managing director of Genflex said: "I recently visited China to ascertain the quality of the brake and associated hoses, to see what testing standards were in place and to ensure that hose quality is guaranteed for the South African automotive sector. I was suitably impressed by the plants that I visited. The salt spray and whip testing facilities that I saw are of top quality, and left no doubt in my mind that our alignment with a company with such stringent testing resources will enable us to successfully penetrate the automotive sector in South Africa."

Genflex anticipates cost savings of up to 40% on some of the brake hose and associated fittings, with delivery being ex-stock. Brake hose assemblies are available upon order.

Garner said: "The desire of the Chinese manufacturer to meet stringent customer specifications and deliver our industry requirements hold high in our principals' portfolios."
