The Learning Systems division of Festo Didactic covers training in schools, colleges and universities. Its latest project involves a trip to the biennial WorldSkills Competition in Japan.
A 12 person delegation will go to Japan in November to attend the Mechatronics Skills Contest with a view to entering a South African team in the 2009 event to be held in Canada. Two representatives from Festo Didactic will accompany 10 representatives from local universities.
The three day event is open to students under 23 years old and comprises various mechatronic exercises that participants need to successfully complete. These include assembly, programming, and commissioning of systems.
Festo Didactic is supplying the equipment for various categories, namely polymechanics, automation, mobile robotics and mechatronics.
