With the K45F 2F-DI LS (light sensor) module from Siemens Automation and Drives, electronic safety sensors with testing semiconductor outputs can be integrated in AS-Interface networks. These include contact-free protective devices such as active, optoelectronic standard light grids and light curtains (type 2/type 4 according to IEC/EN 61496-1, -2). This enables the user to connect even standard devices which do not have their own interfaces.
The module is installed using plug-and-play technology, by means of prefabricated cables with M12 plugs on each end. This allows the modules to be quickly and easily swapped in a maintenance situation. At the same time, the K45F 2F-DI LS module reduces wiring costs, because the power is also supplied via the AS-I cable. No separate supply of 24 V auxiliary power to the module is required. For large protective field widths, a power decoupling module was also developed for the transmitter power supply. The K45F 2F-DI LS is certified for SIL 3 according to IEC 61508.
