Gigavac announces 15 kV DPDT RoHS relay

Second Quarter 2008 Other technologies

Expert high voltage relay manufacturer Gigavac has announced the G23, a 15 kV double pole double throw (DPDT) vacuum relay which combines molybdenum moveable contacts with copper stationary contacts to provide low, 10 mΩ contact resistance for increased current carry.

The manufacturer claims that the space-efficient, rugged, ceramic design is a better choice than large, fragile alternatives and this is the only 15 kV relay of its kind in the industry that is fully RoHS compliant.

The low, stable contact resistance of the relay provides low voltage drop in DC circuits and low signal loss in RF circuits while the oversize contacts and a strong actuator give a high continuous current carry rating of 75 A d.c. In addition to high continuous current carry, the G23 can hot switch under load in most circuits.

Because of its load switching capability, the relay has been designed into switchgear systems for critical airport lighting installations.

The relay is available with a nominal 26,5 V d.c. coil, which is suited to drive circuits from 20 V d.c. through 28 V d.c. Special coils can be provided to meet customer requirements.
