The Somar Integra is a digital motor controller designed to fit in the power supply of a fixed speed induction motor. Constant monitoring of motor efficiency ensures that input power is matched exactly to changing load requirements; according to Somar response to load variations is sub ten milliseconds with motor speed and torque potential unaffected.
Innovative programmable features allow performance to be tailored exactly to customer requirements
A soft-start feature prevents high in-rush currents and uncontrolled torque providing a gradual uptake of power with smooth step-less acceleration resulting in reduced stress on the motor and ancillary equipment. The unit also includes soft-stop capability particularly applicable to pumping applications where damage can occur through fluid surge and the associated hydraulic shock.
Optimal performance is achieved by motor and load evaluation during every supply voltage cycle which initiates the appropriate changes in motor terminal voltage. This ensures dynamic matching of input power to load requirements for maximum energy efficiency, while stalling is prevented through continuous monitoring of flux levels.
The Somar Integra units are available in a range of sizes designed to cater for a variety of applications across multiple industry segments.
