German-owned multinational drive engineering company SEW-Eurodrive used Electra Mining 2008 as the official South African launch platform for its new X-Series range of industrial gears.
The series is well suited to the mining industry and covers the torque range 58 kNm to 175 kNm. The X-Series features a robust gear housing, reduced cost and weight due to high power density and finely stepped sizes, effective cooling systems, adaptable mounting and short delivery times for standard versions and spare parts.
SEW decided to put across its message of controlled movement in the mining industry by staging daily acrobatic shows at its stand over the busy lunchtime period. Dancers from the Boswell Wilkie Circus performed acts such as the three ring tango, the rope dance to the delight of passersby.

“The show had the desired effect in that it drew many visitors to the stand, and it managed to portray what our company is well known for – movement and control of movement – in a very artistic way. We were thrilled with the outcome,” says marketing manager, Rene Rose.
The company reports that it experienced record attendance at its stand and has already secured a number of orders from the exhibition.
