The combination of SKF’s century of experience, technological know-how and product innovation in bearings and Springs-based Delba Electrical’s 45 years of experience in the electric motor repair industry form the ingredients for a successful long-lasting professional partnership.
When SKF introduced its Certified Rewinder Programme to the South African market in 2006, Delba Electrical was the first company approved to receive the SKF Certified Rewinder Certificate. David Balocco, Delba Electrical MD, saw the programme as a way of strengthening the company’s four-decade relationship with SKF South Africa.

Balocco explains the rationale for his company’s 1999 expansion programme, “We recognised the urgent need to increase our low-voltage repair capacity and to grow our ability to repair larger high-voltage machines. Although SKF was highly selective in identifying a company that met the strict criteria for the certification process, we were confident that we had the commitment and the know-how to meet the strict selection criteria.
“This partnership has projected a positive market image and also brought other benefits. We have full access to SKF’s wide array of support resources and enjoy phenomenal support from SKF technicians and from SKF authorised distributor Bearing Services Springs.
SKF supports the rewinder certification with ongoing training which helps Delba’s workshop technicians to keep up-to-date with best practices in bearing fitting, lubrication and maintenance.
There is a growing demand for field services and Delba is well equipped to attend to customer requirements. Delba’s Field Services Division uses fully equipped vehicles, with a range of specialised tools, including SKF Fixtur laser alignment and Microlog vibration analysis equipment.
Delba has taken advantage of the rapid development of new mining and industrial ventures in Mpumalanga and has expanded its Middelburg branch to a motor repair and support facility. It has also entered into a motor stock-holding partnership with Zest Electric Motors, importer of WEG electric motors.
