Tectra Automation recently supplied equipment, valued at R352 000, to Assmang Cato Ridge North plant for use on its furnaces. The complete solution comprised 20 cylinders, one pneumatic panel and 20 ISO 2 valves.

The system controls flow to and cleaning of flue gas filter bags and the contract included removal of an old panel and modifications to existing pneumatic piping.
Various measures were taken to ensure the system’s durability, including:
* Introduction of a filter regulator lubricator on the inlet line.
* Changeover from mild steel to stainless steel.
* Use of Viton seals on the cylinders for heat-resistance and hard wearing properties.
* Segregation of electric and pneumatic components inside the panel into two separate compartments.
* Piping of exhausts outside the panel to keep away residual moisture.
Tectra Automation has a maintenance contract in place for the system under which critical spares will be handed to Assmang to minimise downtime.
