Schneider Electric South Africa has donated distribution switchgear to help alleviate power problems at The Loved Ones of God Family Care Centre, a non-profit organisation that looks after families in need by providing basic needs such as housing, food and clothing.
Higher levels of unemployment have resulted in increased demands on the centre, which moved to bigger premises in an attempt to accommodate more people. The new premises include a number of wooden cottages to accommodate more families and offer better facilities and living conditions.
“Of the 15 cottages at the centre, only eight have electricity and seven of the eight cottages were supplied from one cottage,” explains Schneider Electric South Africa country president, Patrick Gaonach.
The distribution switchgear contributed by Schneider Electric South Africa will eradicate the power problems on the centre’s existing eight units and includes the earth leakage units and circuit breakers needed to power the seven cottages that currently have no electricity at all.
