Telescopic ball-cage bearings

2nd Quarter 2010 Other technologies

Italian linear bearing manufacturer, T-Race, is represented in South Africa by DC Auto-motion. The company is able to supply telescopic systems with load-bearing capacities ranging from 100 kg up to 5000 kg.

DC Auto-motion’s Dave Cawood says, “We supply telescopic systems for applications as varied as:

* Emergency vehicles.

* Safety barriers.

* Sliding steps.

* Custom trailers.

* CNC door covers.

* Displays for shops.

* Palletising machines.

* Bottle packing machines.

* Industrial drawer and storage systems.”

Based on its SR series semi-telescopic slide unit, T-Race’s latest series of ball cage linear bearings is the Ballrace. The new design does away with traditional zinc plating by using nitride hardening. The result is an improved, constant, smooth movement that remains tight and does not become loose with usage.

“Despite using a large ball, the latest system uses an increased number of balls per cage. The result is an improved load capacity,” explains Cawood. “Corrosion resistance is also improved by treatment of all surfaces. The same also improves wear-resistance.”
