Professor Stathis Ioannides has been presented with the Leonardo da Vinci award for his application of tribology theory to technical and practical developments in the mechanical industry and his contribution to the design of new rolling bearings.
Professor Ioannides receives the Da Vinci award
The biennial award is given by the Italian Association of Industrial Designers (AIPA) to designers and Italian companies which have made a valuable contribution to technical industrial innovation.
Professor Ioannides is a world expert in tribology and led the development of SKF’s life theory. This became the new ISO Standard for the calculation of rolling bearing life in 2007 and is used today by bearing companies worldwide.
