The Port Elizabeth branch of CMG Electric Motors recently supplied electric motors for various applications to Shatterprufe Neave, a major supplier and fitter of safety glass. CMG Electric Motors supplies a comprehensive range of best-in-class electric and worm geared motors, gearboxes, Vacon drives and related equipment to diverse South and southern African industries.
Rob Smith, CMG Port Elizabeth branch manager, says that although a first time customer, Shatterprufe Neave, is already regarded as one of CMG’s key customers. The Shatterprufe order was quite extensive, calling for nine CMG motors of differing sizes and kilowatts, intended for blower, fan, compressor and conveyor applications.
The order includes pad mount motors (1,1 kW 4p, 1,1 kW 2p and 0,9 kW 4p); MTT foot mount motors (2,2 kW 2p and 2,2 kW 4p); Marathon foot mount motors (11 kW 2p, 4p and 30 kW); and a 0,096 kW vacuum motor.
CMG technicians completed a modification – extended motor shafts and high temperature bearings – on the 1,1 kW foot mount motor intended for the high temperature blower application, in accordance with customer specifications. All motors were delivered on schedule. “I have every confidence that we will build a long-term business relationship with Shatterprufe Neave because we deliver quality products supported by dedicated, professional service. Our skilled technicians are always on standby to assist customers with advice, maintenance, spares and repairs, as and when required,” says Smith.
CMG Electric Motors CEO, Brian Campbell, says that the Port Elizabeth branch which opened its doors in August 2010, is already paying dividends. “Rob and his team have made excellent progress in expanding our market share in the rapidly expanding Eastern Cape region,” states Campbell. “I believe that the Port Elizabeth branch will continue to make inroads into this market and secure a significant number of customers given the commercial and industrial activities in the Nelson Mandela Bay area.”
