A drive to suit every load

3rd Quarter 2012 Electrical switching & drive systems & components

SEW-Eurodrive launched its new electrified monorail system at Electra Mining 2012. The Movitrans contactless energy transfer system is a drive solution for electrified monorail systems which can be combined with many options from the SEW-Eurodrive modular concept. The system is used for automatic guided vehicles (AGVs) in various industries.

In the expanded gear unit series for electrified monorail systems, different gear units are available for both the light load and heavy load ranges. They have been designed to suit different applications, conveying speeds and transport material working loads. There are a total of six drive sizes now available within this powerful drive product range. There are two new gear unit sizes for electrified monorail systems: the particularly compact HW 10 angular gear unit for the light load range and the bevel gear unit in size HK 37 for the heavy load range.

Electrified monorail systems require special gearmotors with integrated coupling, which SEW-Eurodrive offers in two series. The HW series was developed for the light load range and has a compact design for space-saving installation. These drives are maintenance free and low noise, with reproducible stopping accuracy, and vibration free operation.

For heavy load applications of more than one ton per vehicle, SEW-Eurodrive offers bevel gear units with optimised efficiency. Reliable switching is achieved by a coupling in the gear unit output stage. A high permitted overhung load permits maximum working loads. Both series are optimally adapted for conveying capacity, conveying speed, and working load. The gearmotors are suitable for operation on an inverter.
