With branches throughout the country the company operates to quality standard ISO 9001:2008, environmental standard ISO 14001:2001 and health and safety standard OHSAS 18001:2007. Roberts believes that the entire company must be customer, quality and service driven.

The engineering department forms the backbone of the ELCO brand and has the capacity to design, manufacture and supply complete turnkey projects in both the hydraulic and pneumatic fields. The ELCO team has been delivering engineered solutions to southern African mines and industry for over 115 years and the current staff complement has over 100 years’ experience in engineered solutions. Research and development is a continuous process and the team has developed and engineered many patented designs in South Africa. The recently launched dust suppression system, MartonAqua cylinder and ELCO electrohydraulic actuators are some of the new developments.

As part of the Hudaco Group, Ernest Lowe is also involved in the young engineer development programme, where young engineers are teamed up with senior engineers to grow and develop their skills and education to provide quality engineers in the future.
