Hydrocylinder training

3rd Quarter 2013 News & events

Hydrocylinder has been running its very popular Basic Hydraulics course for over two decades. Presented by managing director Sidney Badenhorst, they offer an excellent understanding of hydraulics systems, how to design a hydraulic circuit, functionality of valves, pumps and motors, and even the art and science of fault finding. Sidney has over 26 years in the industry and he brings to the courses his wealth of experience and his passion for the industry.

Hydrocylinder is now building on this solid base by introducing four new hydraulics courses – proportional hydraulics, logic elements, cooling in hydraulic systems and load sensing. Details are as follows:

Basic hydraulics is a three-day course covering differences between pressure and flow; basic components of a hydraulic circuit; symbols and basic calculations around sizing of a power pack; operation and functionality of pressure valves, flow valves, direction valves, modular valves, gear pumps, vane pumps and piston pumps; hydraulic system maintenance, fault finding and diagnosis; and sizing of hydraulic cylinders.

Proportional hydraulics is a two-day course covering design criteria for open loop control with proportional valves and closed loop control.

Logic elements is a two- day course covering the theory behind logic elements, when to use logic elements, logic element circuitry and calculations of logic elements.

Cooling in hydraulic systems is a one-day course covering the importance of cooling in hydraulic systems.

Load sensing is a one-day course covering load compensation with pressure compensators.
