Fluid Flow Contracting diversifies again
1st Quarter 2014
News & events
Fluid Flow Contracting is a well known and well established company on the West Coast in the Vredenburg area. The company has been in operation since 1979. Since the economic downturn in 2008 the company has found it necessary to diversify and venture into different areas. Being mainly an hydraulic and pneumatic supplier and installer, Fluid Flow decided to diversify into grease lubrication and water reticulation systems and has had great success. In a new development, the company was recently able to diversify even further when it was approached by a local fish processor to design and manufacture a saucing conveyor machine.
The machine’s conveyor is driven by a Bonfiglioli mechanically adjustable variable gearbox allowing speeds from 5 to 12 m/min. An Inoxpa lobe pump delivers a mixture of food grade oils and spices which are dispensed onto fish portions. The construction is manufactured from 316 stainless steel throughout.
Absolute care had to be taken that all the welds were smooth and polished to meet food handling machinery specifications; but Fluid Flow specialises in stainless steel installations for hydraulic and water reticulation systems and the welding on the construction of the machine did not pose any problems.
Fluid Flow has previously designed and installed an adiabatic cooler to cool hydraulic oil. “This system has been in operation for 16 months with no problems,” says technical manager Paul Brand.
