Electronic proportional regulator

Pneumax has introduced a new electronic proportional regulator which allows the outlet pressure to be set electronically. “Most proportional regulators currently on the market come with an M12- 4 pin electrical input. Our unit also comes with a SUB-D 15 pole female connector and Can Open is also available,” says sales engineer, Coen Pretorius. “Not only does the Sub-D plug allow for power connection and analogue input, but it also comes standard with analogue output and digital (switch point) output (24 V DC PNP).”
The regulator has a microcontroller that manages the output pressure using an electrical input reference signal and then proportionally controls the output pressure to the desired set point. Users can choose between different options of reference signals. For the voltage unit, users can select between 0-10 V, 0-5 V or 1-5 V as an analogue input, whilst on the current unit it will be 4-2 mA or 0-20 mA. This will also be for the output from the unit. The proportional regulator controls the outlet pressure to an accuracy of 0,02 bar within the set point, making it more accurate than mechanically or pneumatically controlled regulators. It also allows for eight digital inputs to control the desired outlet pressure and can be controlled via BCD.
It can be used in systems such as painting, tensioning, pneumatic braking, force control for welding grippers, thickness compensation, balancing, laser cutting, pressure transducers for the control of modulating valves, test benches for system testing or force control for buffers on polishers.
