2nd Quarter 2015Electrical switching & drive systems & components
Parker has extended the AC10 range of compact variable speed drives to a power rating of 180 kW, with power ratings now ranging from 0,2 to 180 kW. The AC10 series is the perfect choice for engineers who are seeking a compact, feature rich drive suitable for light, medium and heavy duty drive applications. Other newly introduced functionality includes Permanent Magnet AC (PMAC) motor control for drives up to 22 kW, fire mode and fly catching – a feature that recognises and matches the motor’s frequency on startup to avoid the generation of EMF. These design enhancements follow a recent upgrade that saw the introduction of an IP66/NEMA 4x rated enclosure for protection against the ingress of dust and water. This made the drive even more attractive to machine builders designing systems for challenging operating environments.
The AC10 provides a no fuss approach to general purpose industrial motor control applications across a wide range of industries. It gives users the inherent energy saving benefits associated with variable speed drives, as well as the improved reliability and extended service life advantages that come with smoother starting and stopping of regularly cycling loads. The AC10 features, usually only found on higher specification drives, include sensorless vector mode, three-phase 400 V supplies in all frame sizes, and full 150% overload for one minute. With this feature rich performance, extended power range and simple operation, it is hard to find a more competitive drive in this class.
