High performance planetary gearboxes

2nd Quarter 2015 Electrical switching & drive systems & components

Bonfiglioli’s new TQK series right-angle precision gearbox boasts maximum power density and space saving and covers a wide range of applications where dynamic, high speed, high precision operation is required. It is also finds application in reverse operation and situations where a high number of starts and stops are required. It is particularly suitable for dynamic positioning applications in packaging and machine tooling, as well as for flat-bed machinery for woodworking.

This versatile gearbox comes in five sizes (060, 070, 090, 130 and 160), with ratios from 6 to 200, and with nominal torque from 30 to 800 Nm. Furthermore, the distinctive housing design and optimised mono-block planetary carrier result in a high torsional stiffness to maintain faster dynamics and deliver faster stops and reverse cycles.

Full-needle roller bearings allow for a higher torque output through maximising the contact points and increasing stiffness, with reduced wear and backlash. The bearings carry higher radial and axial loads than comparable designs, and the reinforced bearing options boost performance. Its design is also suited for S1 and S5 operation. The TQK series also has a standard and reduced backlash lower than 4 arcmin and a smooth/keyed shaft. The combination of the reduced backlash and the high stiffness boosts precision.

These notable design features make the TQK series the best planetary gearbox available, with the high input speed matching the fastest servomotors on the market and input flanges that are compatible with both Bonfiglioli and other common servomotors.
